Save your DS-160 Application ID before you continue
When a new DS-160 is created, CEAC issues a unique Application ID. Save it immediately together with the security-question information you will need to retrieve the application.Short answer: keep the Application ID somewhere private and accessible. The Department of State says you must have it to return to a partially completed DS-160.Why it matters
CEAC uses the Application ID when you return to an unfinished form or recover a session after a timeout. The official FAQ says a partially completed application normally remains available online for 30 days; saving the application file lets you continue after that period.
